Cape Town Living

Life in Cape Town is pretty simple for most Captonians – we have Table Mountain on one side and the beautiful Atlantic Ocean on the other, with plenty in between! Situated in South Africa, right at the tip of the peninsula, Cape Town is considered one of the top travel hot-spots in the world, and for very good reason. For those seeking a thrilling safari in Africa, Cape Town might not be exactly what you expect… but with a huge amount to see and do and a host of attractions on offer, the Mother City has certainly earned it’s reputation as the top holiday spot in Africa.

Here are just some of the things that make Cape Town so special:

* Table Mountain – towering over the city, the mountain plays a key role in everyday life. We use it to give directions, to check the weather and to taunt our neighbouring cities such as Joburg.

* Beaches – from Clifton to Camps Bay, Boulders to Muizenberg, Bloberg to Sandy Bay, Cape Town beaches are famous the world over. The Atlantic Ocean beaches tend to be on the chilly side but are ideal for sun tanning, with the Indian Ocean beaches being a bit warmer for swimming.

* Shopping – Cape Town shopping ranges from high-end designer stores at V&A Waterfront to tiny shops in the city bowl selling beautiful vintage clothing, curio and craft stalls, fun fashion boutiques with local designers’ wares and just about anything else you can imagine!

* Eating – whether it’s freshly caught seafood you’re after, or delectable 5-star wining and dining, Cape Town has a plethora of restaurants to suit every taste.

* Wine – and let us not forget that Cape Town is also home to some of the world’s top wine estates, producing an array of varietals including the notable Methode Cap Classic (MCC).

* Entertainment – from crazy Long Street to trendy Kloof Street, beach bars in Camps Bay and all the hot-spots that the city has to offer, the night time brings all sorts of things to enjoy.

There’s plenty more of course, and even in the cold, wet winters life is still pretty good in Cape Town. At the end of the day, perhaps it’s the people and the typical Capetonian laid-back nature that makes Cape Town so special. Whatever the case, this is my city and I love it! :)
