When it comes to shopping, my biggest weaknesses are shoes and pretty dresses. Quite honestly, I don’t think it even remotely possible to have too many of either – and with new trends and new styles each season, I don’t see why I should have to limit myself!
My favourite places to shop are around the Kloof Street area in Gardens, and for good reason. Here one can find a number of awesome little shops that sell the most amazing stuff… gorgeous floral dresses, amazing lace shifts, to die for jackets and so much more! My favourite shops (and fave dresses I’ve found at each) include the following:
1. Wardrobe
Wardrobe is found at 45 Kloof Street in Gardens, and is honestly one of my favourite shops. Pretty decor, awesome staff, tons of beautiful dresses and tops (all very girly!) and a lot of local designers, the only bad thing about this place is trying to choose something. The best part is that their stock is updated often, so everytime you go in, they have some new styles to check out. One of my best finds recently was this gorgeous black and tan floral dress I found earlier this week:

2. The Lot
The Lot is another classic – apparently it’s owned by the same people who own Wardrobe. Situated on the corner of Kloof and Beckham Street in Gardens (tel: 021 424 8812), The Lot is more edgy – loads of amazing leggings, stunning lace dresses and also a good guys clothing range can be found. This is the ultimate place to find the perfect LBD (little black dress), but don’t expect to find anything remotely boring here! My favourite recent find from The Lot was this black lace dress that is probably the most versatile dress I own:

3. Divine
I’ve been a Divine fan for many, many years – ever since I moved to Gardens in fact. Run by the loveliest lady ever, this shop is very affordable and sells a range of things from dresses to tops, jackets, coats, cardis, sunglasses, jewellery and many other goodies. I get my beautiful little colourful cardis here, and also the season’s cool dress styles. Their stock changes fairly often, also their sizes are more ‘normal’ rather than the often ridiculous 18 year old sizing often seen in this area. I found a great LBD here too lately, with a dress up/dress down vibe:

Of course, the most important thing when buying dresses in Spring is to always consider whether or not the dress will be wearable in summer. All of the dresses I go for can be worn with stockings and boots/heels, or without – and can be worn with summer heels as well as winter heels or summer boots.
Talking about heels, has anyone else seen that Xupa Xupa are now stocking a small range of rather risque heels? Aside from the Kink style dress-up boots, they also have a few pairs of GORGEOUS satin and ribbon heels, in red/black and pink/black. Am actually keen to check them out, especially the pink/black ones!
